Many a writer or artist has longed to travel back in time to the sizzling Paris of the 1920s, to sip absinthe with Hemingway at Les Deux Magots or dine on choucroute garnie with Picasso at La Rotonde. Imagine the conversation! The protagonist of the film, Midnight in Paris (2011) Gil, gets to love that fantasy. Gil travels back to Paris in the 1920’s and meets Hemingway, Picasso and Matisse, among others. But you don’t have to travel back to visit the locations featured in the movie. Gil, and his fiance, Inez stay at the magnificent Hotel Le Bristol with her parents. This hotel is located among high fashion stores such as Hermes, Lanvin, Lacroix…)
The wine tasting scene is on the rooftop of the Le Meurice Hotel overlooking the Tuileries. Le Meurice has a very impressive guest list and is referred to as the Hotel of Kings.
